Sub Swara Summer Bass Sessions in effect! For our 20th installment we’ve got some serious heat coming through. Our bredren, FreQ Nasty, comes back to join the Sub Swara crew for another epic dancefloor-smashing journey. This appearance will give a sneak peak into FreQ’s new album, The Missing Channel, which promises to be an incredible genre-bending ride featuring the signature Nasty bass weight and some of the world’s freshest vocal talent. Those of you who checked him out at Sub Swara 013 in November 06 know how he does it LARGE! And those of you who missed out, here’s a second chance!
Plus, an extra special sauce -- "FreQ Nasty previews www.giveback.net... Information.Action.Change" - 9pm till 10pm
"Giveback is an organization designed to take individual passion and catalyze it into large-scale change. It will connect like-minded people and enable them to come together as groups and communities to create a more positive world. The Giveback network will allow participants from around the world to share important news and information about the causes they care most about and will enable individuals to contribute their efforts to these causes. It empowers each and every person to participate directly in local, national and global efforts alongside a vast network of motivated and passionate people creating tangible real-world change. Come early and learn more."
Also on the wheels will be the man called Sharmaji. Recently voted Producer of the Year by Bobby Friction and Nihal (BBC Radio), Sharmaji (aka Dave Sharma) is an incredible percussionist, producer and DJ who’s been turning out massive tracks left and right that have made serious marks on international airwaves and dancefloors across the globe. Covering ground from dubstep to jungle to South Asian inflections, Sharmaji’s tracks and sets are relentlessly fresh and inventive. He and Sub Swara resident, Dhruva, have also been doing some proper studio duty and their works will be featured on an Agriculture Records release (later this year) and in a full-on Soundclash set vs. Skull Disco (Appleblim and Shackleton) on the illustrious Mary Anne Hobbes BBC Radio 1 Show (www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/maryannehobbs/) this month! Tune in!
As for the SS crew, we’re amidst a busy summer of shows around the US and Canada and finishing up the Sub Swara album (out November 2007), but there’s nothing like throwing down on home turf!

Re: Sub Swara 20th edition!! w/ FreQ Nasty and Sharmaji - July 6, 2007
Mon, July 2, 2007 - 10:48 AMgettin my hot pants in order. . .
well, let me be the one to elucidate for ya dhruva . . . the MIHP are in fact the Men In Hot Pants, and a Living Legendary Dancefloor Creature, born in the Disorient Labs, debuting at a certain Freek Factory fete a couple years ago and bringin mad man booty-shaking hottery to many a party since. They are Big Dawg, Low Road, and El Nino . . .and since El Nino has hotpanted to more southerly climes, the MIHP in full effect have established a more coquettish stance, making relatively rare and awesomely special appearances at the parties worthy of their mojo.
We are honored to have them in full effect on our dancefloor.

Re: Sub Swara 20th edition!! w/ FreQ Nasty and Sharmaji - July 6, 2007
Thu, July 5, 2007 - 1:44 PMHey now !
one goes hotpantsing down south for just a few months and look at what happens !
A MIHP love mail tribe is forming, and our dearest trade secrets are being revealed on the Freek Factory tribe via photographic cross-posting !
Scandalous !!!
(Sefirah, you are a mean girl - i hereby reserve you for an hour of sweaty dancing at the next outing). And the secret is : you have to be wearing hotpants WHILE making hotpants for the descendants to be any good.
But there is a flipside :
people.tribe.net/elnino/ph...9d300aae5a
well, i mean, a back side. Either way ;-)
So yes, the MIHP are the Men in Hot Pants, and though Lowroad and Big Dawg apparently do a splendid job of representing while my ass sweats in loose-fitting clothes down in Georgia ... i decided to come give them a hand (and a buttcheek or two) at the Aug 3rd Subswara gig.
It will be one of those !!!
I will dearly miss Mr Nasty and his intriguing Giveback.net unveiling, though. Please do go and report !!!!
It's fun to party but it's so much gander if it means community !

Re: Sub Swara 20th edition!! w/ FreQ Nasty and Sharmaji - July 6, 2007

Re: Sub Swara 20th edition!! w/ FreQ Nasty and Sharmaji - July 6, 2007
Fri, July 6, 2007 - 9:14 AMSpeaking of which, Dhruva, I'll be packing an extra pair for you...
Now, do you prefer :
- gold lamé
- dayglo ornj
- snow white
- snake skin
- shimmery silver
? -
-
Re: Sub Swara 20th edition!! w/ FreQ Nasty and Sharmaji - July 6, 2007
Fri, July 6, 2007 - 9:56 AMPerhaps a hybrid -- snow snake dayglo shimmery skin perhaps?
I know, I'm high maintenance. -
-
Re: Sub Swara 20th edition!! w/ FreQ Nasty and Sharmaji - July 6, 2007
Fri, July 6, 2007 - 12:20 PMif anyone could charm the pants off the infamous freek lair-dwelling nocturnal snow snake, it is the shimmering of the sweat on the skin of your tablas, dhruva. . .
that or the masterful malletting of hajijian hindquarter by the sharmaji in full form.
... juakali's purr surely conjures some kinda hybrid,
and with the right kinda scratching, just-so, by a sunder in season, well . . .
there are manifold creatures, lunar and dayglo alike, rarely witnessed by the eye or ear which may be aroused to pant thee. . .
i think the MIHP would agree that y'all are well worth the maintenance. . . -
-
Re: Sub Swara 20th edition!! w/ FreQ Nasty and Sharmaji - July 6, 2007
Tue, July 10, 2007 - 10:36 PMI agree. Just a warning though : the pants do none of the maintenance - it's the ass that does.

Re: Sub Swara 20th edition!! w/ FreQ Nasty and Sharmaji - July 6, 2007
Thu, July 5, 2007 - 12:16 PMI'm excited to hear FreQ Nasty at sub swara again...So FN is going to be debuting his Giveback.net organization in NYC right before SS begins. I heard there are some big people working on this project...do you know who? I know is that it's going to be a unique way to link up musicians, artists, philantropists and everyone to find out what the most important social issues are in the general public and in your community...an extreme form of global outreach. Who's coming to this? -
-
Re: Sub Swara 20th edition!! w/ FreQ Nasty and Sharmaji - July 6, 2007
Thu, July 5, 2007 - 12:43 PMwell, I know Michelle Bass (LABA) is working on it, our boy Shamal (from Yahoo Music and of course the legendary Sol system burning Man crew), and from what I hear there are peeps involved from eBay adn such.
I'll be there by default but you know I'd be there regardless. :)
