The Glitch Mob comes thru this round with edIT and Kraddy at the controls so trust that the lazer bass will be in full.
Both crews are fresh off new releases - edIT's Certified Air Raid Material and Kraddy's Illegal Album are the straight heat, taking hip hop, dancehall glitch and lo frequencies to the next level.
The Sub Swara crew just released their bass spectrum-spanning, genre rushing debut, Coup d'Yah, and the remix album is already underway (featuring the Glitch Mob, Ghislain Poirier, DJ C, Bassnectar, Kush Arora and many more).

NAIAD DAIAD are North America's newest and greatest psychedelic electronic supergroup. Consisting of Brandon Maynard (Aquarium/The Malah, Greenville SC) and Cooper Howland (OpenSourceCode, NYC) NAIAD DAIAD adamantly refuse to recognise genre restrictions, rules, or recommendations about what music is supposed to sound like. Instead, we produce eclectic, freewheeling, effortlessly funky, outrageously danceable music. Equally suited to the chillout or the main stage, morning, noon or night, NAIAD DAIAD has been under construction for over a year, and is finally ready for your consumption! We truly hope that you are as hungry for some brand-new, all-orignal, wildly inventive music as we are to give it to you! The live show consists of two laptops, a guitar with MIDI pickups, microphones, electronic and organic percussion, hardware synthesizers and whatever else we can manage to drag out to the venue! We re-dub, re-mix, and improvise in real-time to create an immersive and involving live experience that's impossible to ignore and damn hard not to dance to.

Hey all! Exciting news...

We are proud to present the first release off of the upcoming Sub Swara album, Coup d'Yah (out June 10):

'The Balance' is a true Sub Swara anthem, a crushing component of the live set and available now for the first time for digi-download. Your choice of both vocal and instrumental mixes in full resolution wav.or highest quality mp3 formats.

A mid-tempo banger built over a heavy swung break and thundering dhols. tension builds through a sustained oscillating push leading to a massive drop as the groove locks step into gear. the track hits full stride with Juakali's distinctive vocal imprint and a stomping nu-jack acid lead. The open dancehall turnaround lands the sweet spot. Most serious dance floor business!

'The Balance' is the first single from the Sub Swara full length, 'Coup d'Yah'. which hits June 10th. Check in regularly at www.subswara.com: your portal for new tracks; podcasts; remix tools; blogs; video and merch ramping up to the full drop in June. 'Coup d' Yah' will be available here and first.

Also - the monthly Sub Swara podcast launches tomorrow with the first set from Haj. Yes indeed -- all the info will be up on www.subswara.com tomorrow, Thursday, April 24.
While existing as a mutating collaborative effort, BASSNECTAR is traditionally the amorphous music project of Lorin Ashton, a San Francisco based Musician / Producer / DJ, (“probably the largest cult following of any DJ in San Francisco” – SF Weekly) highlighted by massive basslines, thick mob scene beats, freakshow energy, emotive melodics, traditional acoustic instrumentation, and fearless mashing of genres, styles, sounds, moods, and approaches. Fusing elements of midtempo breakbeats, big beat, old school hip hop and dub, DnB, glitch, IDM, electronica, death metal, grindcore, punk rock, alternative, folk, swing, and jazz; and sampling anything from the human history of sound and music, Bassnectar might be most accurately described as “omni-tempo maximalism."

Rarely will you find a talent whose vision supersedes the boundaries of genre, until you have met KING BRITT. This Philadelphia native has found a way to escape the boundaries of a single category of music by expressing his creations through deep house, hip-hop, broken beat, nu-jazz, funk and afro-tech. He has been honing his DJ and production skills for the greater part of a decade. The result: a pioneer of all things soulful, rhythmically textured and melodically provocative.

Once a month for six years, Mutiny's groundbreaking crew and all-star guests brought New York City a hard-driving mix of South Asian classical, folk, and film music with drum 'n bass, jungle, hip-hop and dub. This Nov. 3rd, on the 10th anniversary of Mutiny's founding, the full Mutiny crew will return to the decks for one more night of musical insurgency, featuring long-time co-conspirator and electronica pioneer Talvin Singh and showcasing the rising talent of Shaa'ir + Func. Whether you missed it the first time around or have been waiting for its return, this is your chance to become part of the Mutiny!

Our bredren, FreQ Nasty, comes back to join the Sub Swara crew for another epic dancefloor-smashing journey. This appearance will give a sneak peak into FreQ’s new album, The Missing Channel, which promises to be an incredible genre-bending ride featuring the signature Nasty bass weight and some of the world’s freshest vocal talent. Those of you who checked him out at Sub Swara 013 in November 06 know how he does it LARGE! And those of you who missed out, here’s a second chance!
Plus, an extra special sauce -- "FreQ Nasty previews www.giveback.net... Information.Action.Change" - 9pm till 10pm

Recently voted Producer of the Year by Bobby Friction and Nihal (BBC Radio), Sharmaji (aka Dave Sharma) is an incredible percussionist, producer and DJ who’s been turning out massive tracks left and right that have made serious marks on international airwaves and dancefloors across the globe. Covering ground from dubstep to jungle to South Asian inflections, Sharmaji’s tracks and sets are relentlessly fresh and inventive. He and Sub Swara resident, Dhruva, have also been doing some proper studio duty and their works will be featured on an Agriculture Records release (later this year) and in a full-on Soundclash set vs. Skull Disco (Appleblim and Shackleton) on the illustrious Mary Anne Hobbes BBC Radio 1 Show (www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/maryannehobbs/) this month! Tune in!
About Dub War

Dub War is New York's seminal dubstep night, and the first event of its kind in North America. Started in June 2005 to push the sounds of UK dubstep and other forms of underground dub music, it has introduced top name UK DJ's to US audiences, including Kode 9, Loefah, Mala of Digital Mystikz, and Skream.

Top US dubsteppers Joe Nice (one of URB's Next 100 for 2007), Dave Q, and MC Juakali are the Dub War residents,
and they can be found spreading the bassweight across the US and abroad. Dub War has been featured in Urb, XLR8R, ArtForum, and TimeOut NY. Also watch for Dub War Recordings #02 in stores soon featuring Random Trio Productions from London. Visit http://www.dubwarnyc.com for more info.

About Kush Arora

One of the closest bredren in the extended Sub Swara family, Kush Arora makes his much anticipated NYC debut at Sub Swara 018. His new album, From Brooklyn to SF, is set to blow minds across the globe. It is a journey through Dread Bass, dub/dubstep, hip hop and desi inflected digi dancehall , featuring several of the most adventurous vocalists and musicians in North America. From the deep meditative dub of Seed Halfi Grow to the full on dancefloor bass weight of Spread the Word, the album redefines the musical landscape. Kush has shared the bill with Dr. Isreal, Sf's Dhamaal Soundsystem, opened for Theivery Corp, and regularly plays the 10 year long running Dub Mission in San Francisco. Currently he holds a monthly residency at Surya Dub located at SF's Club 6 with contemporaries forging the Dread Bass movement internationally and will be performing his signature dubwise live PA set at Sub Swara alongside SS's own MC Juakali.

Happy New Year from the Sub Swara Posse!

We are well pleased to be back home in NYC after an auspicious sonic incursion into LA over NYE. Big Ups to The Space Island Crew and to Shamal and family for being such hospitable hosts to us. (Dhruva apologizes for setting that sub-wo0fer on fire. it's a problem he has. we are working onnit....) For all you west coasters: Look for Sub Swara to be back out west this spring and summer shredding up a camp-out near you. LA knows what's up.

Sub Swara 015:

Back at home we are kicking off 2007 with a storm as comrade and musical legend, State of Bengal, returns to New York and the Sub Swara stage with a blazing live set at Element on Fri. Feb 2nd.. This will be the global CD release party for SKIP-IJ, the highly anticipated new album from SOB. Available everywhere Feb 7th.

SOB has been has been a mentor to us and has shown consistent support for Sub Swara since our inception; performing at our very first event at Capitale in 2005, and joining us for a flurry of shows last summer through the pacific northwest.

Sam first burst onto the global scene as a key DJ and genre-defining producer, instrumental to the success of London's infamous club night ‘Anokha’. He went from there to record several seminal forward-looking LP's, and to record and tour alongside fellow musical titans Bjork, Massive Attack, and the late classical fusion sitarist Ananda Shankar, amongst many others. His eruptive tracks ‘Flight IC408’ and ‘Chittagong Chill’, featured on Talvin Singh's Anokha compilation have taken their place in history and remain anthems.

Sub Swara is very proud to host the official global release party for State Of Bengal's new album SKIP-IJ. The SKIP-IJ sound is built around thunderous rhythms, wide organic bass lines, and premier vocalists from around the globe. The album's official release is on February 7 but come hear it in full effect with us on Feb.2!

SOB will joined by very special guests, vocalist Rosina Kazi and MC, Nexmanz . Exclusive advance copies of SKIP-IJ will be available. With the release of SKIP-IJ SOB has once again succeeded in redefining the sonic landscape.

Check out a sneak peak audio sampler of the album:

http://www.dhamaalsf.com/dhruvanyc/SKIP-IJ.MP3

The Sub Swara crew will of course be reppin' proper with Dhruva, Sunder, Haj, MC Juakali, and Visualists Pictureman and Skip Intro bringing the DJ-tabla-ragga vocal-visual mixology to the forefront. We return to Element, NY's premiere venue for cutting edge music, featuring one of the most bumpin' sound systems in North America.

Half price $10 tickets are now on sale at Brown Paper Tickets (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/9740) and will be available at that price until noon mid-day on Feb. 2nd.
Karsh Kale(Six Degrees/Kollektiv)
Described by Billboard Magazine as a “visionary composer and producer”, Karsh Kale (pronounced “Kursh Kah-lay”) is one of global electronic music’s brightest stars. While his peers view Kale as a force of nature on both tabla and drums, Kale is an equally innovative song writer, producer, composer and DJ. Whether playing live or as a DJ . Kale has brought his infectious global sound to almost every major city on four continents. Kale is equally renown by both fans and critics as the pioneer of a sound that captures a panorama of influences - past and future, analog and digital - bringing classical Indian music into the Western mainstream rock and electronic vernacular. In a span of less than seven years, Kale released four critically acclaimed solo albums on Six Degrees Records, became a founding member of the super groups Tabla Beat Science and Realize Live, recorded and remixed countless artists, and has collaborated with the likes of Zakir Hussain, Paul Oakenfold, Sting, Anoushka Shankar, Salim-Sulaiman, Bill Laswell, MIDIval Punditz, Norah Jones, Sultan Khan, Paula Cole, Susheela Raman and Herbie Hancock. Karsh has also created Kollektiv, a national crew of DJs' producers, musicians and artists showcasing cutting edge underground music through Kollektiv events across the country.

Sub Swara (Sunder, Dhruva and Haj)
The Sub Swara crew has making serious waves in the world of cutting edge sound since its inception as a performing crew and club residency in 2005. Both as individual recording and performing artists and as a tandem, the Sub Swara crew is everywhere right now.Defying genre and concocting a bass charged blend of midtempo breaks, ragga dancehall, glitch, dub step, next level breakbeat and the uncategorizable, Dhruva, Sunder, Haj have created a profound imprint and redefined dance music with their signature blend of mixing, turntablism and live dubbed out tabla. With a slew of crushing new material, a much anticipated debut album scheduled for late summer 2007 release, and blazing gigs from coasts to coast and across the world, SS has been pushing big speaker bizness to new levels.

The Sub Swara live set represents the crew in fullest effect. With the recent addition of heavyweight mc Juakali to the live Set Sub Swara has added a crucial ragga component to their international bass and breaks filled sound and has continued to ignite and unite crews from all sonic lineages. The SS sounds run deep and traverses all boundaries.

Pedro (Reality Engine/ Interchill/ CoSM)
Originally from Brazil, Pedro plays and produces free style tribal grooves, with dub beats into midtempo trance, breaks and house, he fuses influences from many tribal cultures and genres to build an uplifting experience

Boom!!! Well we have romped right in and made ourselves at home at Element. Thank you all for coming out in force last friday for Sub Swara013, another fiercely inspired night. Biggest ups to esteemed guests Freq Nasty and David Starfire for dropping smacked-up floor-igniting sets, to Juakali for ripping up the mic, and to Skip Intro and 3rd I Films for providing compeling visual support. The Sub Swara monthly has emerged as the definitive home for low-frequency high-vibration culture in NYC.

Join us on Friday, December 1st for Sub Swara014, as we round out an astounding year with an east-west sound clash of epic proportions:

SUB SWARA vs. GLITCH MOB

In the home corner -- The Sub Swara posse weighs in with the hard-hitting trio of Dhruva, Sunder, and Haj, heavy-weight MC Juakali and Pictureman on visual attack. 'International Bass Fueled Beats and Breaks', with live tablas, turntablism, Ragga vocals, and deep visual mixology. A barrage of genre defying sonics spanning crushing breaks, chubby dubstep, nasty grime, mid-tempo glitch, digi-dancehall, and much more big speaker biz.

In the visitor’s corner – The Glitch Mob comes out swinging, as individual superstars edIT, Kraddy, and Boretta join forces, and freestyle maestro Souleye enters the fracas with his lyrical jujitsu. These boys have been straight tearing up the west coast underground circuit with their crunked-out glitch-injected hip-hop, massiv dancehall riddims, & lush IDM. After running things at Burning Man this summer the Glitch Mob is poised and primed to make their very live and highly anticipated NYC debut.

We aint’ playin’ around. Not a bit...

Pre-sale tickets are up NOW ( www.BrownPaperTickets.com/event/8616 )– super advance $10 cheapies are available till Friday, November 17. After that, pre-sales are at $15 through mid day Dec. 1.

There won’t be a Sub Swara event in NYC in January, so be sure to come out and get your fix. Look out for us in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve throwing down with the Space Island crew. Keep it locked. We will be back in NYC with thunder in '07 as we resume First Fridays at Element with another massive line-up on Feb. 2nd.
Her style is best described as "sexy glitched out downtempo with bassy hip- hop undertones", an unusual blend with something for everyone. Currently in SF and "rolling with the glitch mob", her upcoming gigs will be at the popular Get Freaky events and Synergenis. Kollektiv residents Karsh Kale, Zakhm and DimmSummer complete the night with their unique blend of global eclectic sounds. Don't miss it!
