Consisting of Brandon Maynard (Aquarium/The Malah, Greenville SC) and Cooper Howland (OpenSourceCode, NYC) NAIAD DAIAD adamantly refuse to recognise genre restrictions, rules, or recommendations about what music is supposed to sound like. Instead, we produce eclectic, freewheeling, effortlessly funky, outrageously danceable music. Equally suited to the chillout or the main stage, morning, noon or night, NAIAD DAIAD has been under construction for over a year, and is finally ready for your consumption! Our bredren, FreQ Nasty, comes back to join the Sub Swara crew for another epic dancefloor-smashing journey. This appearance will give a sneak peak into FreQ’s new album, The Missing Channel, which promises to be an incredible genre-bending ride featuring the signature Nasty bass weight and some of the world’s freshest vocal talent. Those of you who checked him out at Sub Swara 013 in November 06 know how he does it LARGE! And those of you who missed out, here’s a second chance!

He and Sub Swara resident, Dhruva, have also been doing some proper studio duty and their works will be featured on an Agriculture Records release (later this year) and in a full-on Soundclash set vs. Skull Disco (Appleblim and Shackleton) on the illustrious Mary Anne Hobbes BBC Radio 1 Show (www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/maryannehobbs/) this month! 1st ly I HaVE to say Yall killed IT at cosm last night , like christmas miracle style awe, you had me hiding behind a pole spying on you like i might learn the secret of ill -ness if i peeped long enough. i shakeded my booty till my unborn children of the way off future got sweaty , then i breathed and bounced some more....

but more to the point ,i nearly couldnt contain myself, when on the 6:20am train threw the bronx dressed like the little elfkin i am in the sea of peeple in the safe color going to work on sunday morning...I remebered about the rediculous sacred union of bassnugs thats about to happen on friday ..i nearly twitterpated threw the ceiling ...

We are well pleased to be back home in NYC after an auspicious sonic incursion into LA over NYE. Big Ups to The Space Island Crew and to Shamal and family for being such hospitable hosts to us. (Dhruva apologizes for setting that sub-wo0fer on fire. it's a problem he has. we are working onnit....) For all you west coasters: Look for Sub Swara to be back out west this spring and summer shredding up a camp-out near you. LA knows what's up.

Sub Swara 015:

Back at home we are kicking off 2007 with a storm as comrade and musical legend, State of Bengal, returns to New York and the Sub Swara stage with a blazing live set at Element on Fri. Feb 2nd.. This will be the global CD release party for SKIP-IJ, the highly anticipated new album from SOB. Available everywhere Feb 7th.

SOB has been has been a mentor to us and has shown consistent support for Sub Swara since our inception; performing at our very first event at Capitale in 2005, and joining us for a flurry of shows last summer through the pacific northwest.

Sam first burst onto the global scene as a key DJ and genre-defining producer, instrumental to the success of London's infamous club night ‘Anokha’. He went from there to record several seminal forward-looking LP's, and to record and tour alongside fellow musical titans Bjork, Massive Attack, and the late classical fusion sitarist Ananda Shankar, amongst many others. His eruptive tracks ‘Flight IC408’ and ‘Chittagong Chill’, featured on Talvin Singh's Anokha compilation have taken their place in history and remain anthems.

Sub Swara is very proud to host the official global release party for State Of Bengal's new album SKIP-IJ. The SKIP-IJ sound is built around thunderous rhythms, wide organic bass lines, and premier vocalists from around the globe. The album's official release is on February 7 but come hear it in full effect with us on Feb.2!

SOB will joined by very special guests, vocalist Rosina Kazi and MC, Nexmanz . Exclusive advance copies of SKIP-IJ will be available. With the release of SKIP-IJ SOB has once again succeeded in redefining the sonic landscape.

Hey Ya'll -- Sub Swara is celebrating its first birthday with a gigantic bash on October 6! Mark your calendars cuz this one is going to be absolutely epic.

We're moving over to a new space -- the Lower East Side's beautiful, ELEMENT....a new night - FIRST FRIDAYS (no more Friday morning hangovers!)...and we're ringing in one year of events in NYC with two VERY SPECIAL GUESTS who span the globe in terms of their sound, impact and dancefloor crushing prowess - LORIN (BASSNECTAR) and DJ CHEB I SABBAH.

The Sub Swara crew will be bringing the signature goods with a brand new live set (with MC JUAKALI on the mic), a slew of new original tracks that have been tweaked and bumped over the course of the summer, a brand new space installation and a whole bag of surprises.

New Choonz!

What up Peeps -- just wanted to let you know athat I threw up a couple of new tracks on www.myspace.com/dhruvamusic for your listening pleasure.

The first is <<The Balance>> -- produced with Haj and featuring MC Juakali on Vocals, Sunder on Scratches, and JC Lupis on Violin. It's the title track on the upcoming "Freek Factory Vol 1: The Balance". Warrblage for your ear zone.

The second is Yeah! (Ina Dravidian Bomb Step) also featuring Juakali, Sankar Sundaram on flute, Vinyaka on Thapattam (South Indian Frame Drums), and MC Napolean Solo on Beatbox.

More new tracks will be filtering through on a bi-weekly basis and all this stuff will be coming out on various releases over the next several months and also on the Sub Swara album dropping next summer.
